Your role

Helping to implement aspects of the PR plan to build external reputation of both brands, grow brand exposure and awareness, drive traffic and increase engagement through the media and identified partnerships. To establish, maintain and grow presence in an increasingly crowded market. To leverage relationships (and thus, retention) with our Owners.

Main tasks and responsibilities

Support PR Manager in meeting PR targets; maximising opportunities to grow and develop PR activities in support of commercial and marketing strategies

Support PR Manager in delivery of PR strategy for Sawday’s and Canopy & Stars to meet strategic and objective goals, integrated with marketing and commercial strategies, including:

  • Managing the day-to-day press office function for both brands; developing and maintaining strong media relationships, proactively researching opportunities and pitching features, supporting marketing activity and book launches, arranging press trips, planning and implementing a press release schedule, writing and distribution of press materials, media monitoring, managing proactive and reactive media opportunities, managing and creating media lists, image distribution, distributing coverage and reporting results
  • Research, draft and deliver creative written content, with a focus on media materials and press features, ensuring that all content delivers against brand and campaign messaging off-page SEO
  • Research and identify key influencers, who can authentically help tell our story and reach new audiences. Initiate and nurture relationships
  • Use PR activity to stimulate conversation and engagement through social media channels. Support the wider marketing team in development and delivery of social media content

Contribute ideas and creative thinking into the business and be a key contributor to creative campaign development

Identify and maximise opportunities for the PR function to grow and develop in all responsible areas. Ensure all work is optimised with other departments to create competitive opportunity

Help demonstrate ROI and report on effectiveness of all marketing activities and bespoke campaigns/projects, using pre-determined KPIs

Ensure all activities are on brand and consistent in quality

Skills and experience

1-2 years’ commercial experience in a consumer PR role

Commercially minded and driven by ROI

Excellent understanding of media and the interplay between on and offline media and between paid, earned and owned channels. Ability to think beyond traditional PR channels

Current network of key travel/ lifestyle media and influencers

Experience in the delivery of consumer PR campaigns

Excellent practical knowledge of Google Analytics

Excellent understanding of social media and online influence

Experience with media database tools

Excellent written and verbal English, ideally with copywriting flair


1+ years consumer PR experience within the travel sector

Working knowledge of Salesforce

Additional language/s (French, Italian, Spanish)

Knowledge and qualifications

Ideally educated to degree level

Positive self-starter who thrives on performance

Highly inquisitive nature to do things better/differently

Excellent communicator and strong presentation skills

Excellent written and verbal English

Salary and benefits

An annual salary up to £25,000 depending on experience
